Academic Overview

Program Overview

Advanced surgical operation theatre and anaesthesia monitoring workstation at Chirayu University Hospital

An Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technologist is an essential part of any hospital. The professional prepares and maintains the operating theatre, facilitates planned and emergency surgeries by readying the equipment in advance, assists the anaesthetist and surgical team during the peri-operative period, and supports patients in the recovery room.

Modern operation theatres rely on a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment to monitor anaesthesia and surgery. The success of a procedure and the safety of the patient depend on this equipment working reliably and on skilled people who can operate it. This course is designed to meet that need.

The B.AOTT brings together both specialisations in one degree, covering general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, cardiac, orthopaedic and urological surgery, as well as anaesthesia techniques, intensive care and sterilisation services.
