Program Overview

Modern hemodialysis therapy and renal care clinical technology unit at Chirayu University Hospital

Dialysis is a life-saving treatment for people whose kidneys have failed. The Dialysis Therapy Technologist directly monitors both the patient and the dialysis machine throughout every session. This professional manages haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, watches vital signs, handles complications, supports patients emotionally and keeps the equipment running safely.

The need is urgent. India has only about 2,600 nephrologists, roughly 1.9 per million people, while chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease continue to rise. Skilled dialysis professionals are essential to widen access to kidney care and ease the load on nephrologists.

The BDTT at Chirayu follows the national curriculum. It builds a strong base in the medical sciences, then trains you in dialysis therapies, extracorporeal treatments, renal transplant coordination and patient care, so you graduate ready to work as an independent care provider.

Career & Growth

Placement Opportunities

Graduates are in demand in hospitals and dialysis facilities. With experience they move into transplant and vascular access coordination, management, teaching, industry and research. The national curriculum maps career levels across four paths:

Pathway Career levels
Clinical Dialysis Therapy Technologist, Transplant Coordinator or Vascular Access Coordinator; Senior Dialysis Therapy Technologist; Chief Dialysis Therapy Technologist or Transplant Manager; Deputy Manager for Dialysis Unit; Manager for Dialysis Unit
Academic Clinical Instructor, Tutor, Lecturer (a Master's degree is needed for Lecturer and Assistant Professor posts)
Industry Dialysis Application Specialist, Senior Application Specialist, Lead Application Specialist, Regional Dialysis Application Specialist
Research Scientist B and Scientist C

Growth depends on experience after the degree, from 0 to 4 years at entry level up to 15 years for a unit manager, and on further qualifications such as the Master of Dialysis Therapy or a PhD.
