Academic Overview
Program Overview
Respiratory Technology is a vital part of modern healthcare. Respiratory Therapists assess patients with breathing problems, manage airways and ventilators, give oxygen and aerosol therapy, run lung and sleep diagnostics, and lead pulmonary rehabilitation. In intensive care units, emergency departments, neonatal units and trauma care, they are indispensable members of the team.
The need has never been greater. Chronic lung disease, air pollution, smoking and post-pandemic lung complications have increased the demand for trained respiratory professionals in India and across the world. Respiratory Technology was prioritised for the national curriculum because of its role in intensive care, emergency care and cardiopulmonary management, as the COVID-19 pandemic made clear.
The B.Sc. RT at Chirayu follows this national curriculum. It combines the foundational sciences with hands-on training in patient assessment, mechanical ventilation, diagnostics, neonatal and paediatric care and rehabilitation, so you graduate ready for independent clinical practice or advanced training.
Core Strengths
Program Highlights
High-demand profession: A career at the centre of critical care, with skills that hospitals need every day.
A full year in practice: 12 months of compulsory full-time internship across ICUs, emergency, pulmonary labs and sleep medicine, in recognized tertiary care teaching hospitals.
Clinical practice from the start: Three clinical practicum courses in the three years of study, plus supervised clinical training in every semester from the first year.
Hands-on technical skills: Learn invasive and non-invasive ventilation, airway management, ABG analysis, PFTs, polysomnography and ACLS-based critical care.
Specialized care areas: Dedicated courses in neonatal and paediatric respiratory care and in cardiothoracic care.
Clear pathway to growth: Continue to a 2-year M.Sc. in Respiratory Technology, a PhD, or short clinical fellowships in subspecialties.
Global opportunity: Graduates are well regarded abroad, where respiratory care is an established profession.
