Program Overview

Modern emergency medical technologist paramedic clinical life support and trauma response training at Chirayu University Hospital

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are the front line of healthcare, delivering rapid, precise and compassionate care in life-threatening situations. Paramedics are the first point of contact in an emergency, bridging the gap between the scene of an incident and definitive hospital care, especially in remote and underserved regions.

India’s EMS has grown from simple ambulance transport before the 1980s to organized systems with trained paramedics, GPS-enabled vehicles and centralized dispatch through the 108 and 102 helplines, with over 17,000 ambulances across 31 states and union territories. Studies cited in the handbook indicate that EMS interventions reduced trauma-related deaths by 15% to 20% in serviced areas.

The B.E.M.T. trains you in assessment, stabilization and management of medical, trauma, obstetric and paediatric emergencies, including advanced airway management, CPR, defibrillation, emergency medications, bleeding control, splinting of injuries and disaster response. The curriculum is designed to standardize paramedic training across the country, since training quality varies widely between states today.
