Elective Streams
Specialization Pathways
Medical Biochemistry: advanced clinical biochemistry, enzymology, metabolism, instrumentation and related diagnostic applications.
Medical Microbiology: applied microbiology, virology, mycology, public health microbiology and advanced microbial diagnostics.
Hematology and Transfusion Medicine: advanced hematological techniques, molecular hematology, blood banking, immunohematology and transfusion practice.
Histology and Cytopathology: diagnostic histopathology, cytological techniques, immunohistochemistry, diagnostic markers and molecular methods.
Specialization availability at an institution, elective choices, course titles and semester placement must be checked against the currently approved curriculum and university scheme.
Postgraduate Outcomes
Competencies and Learning Outcomes
On successful completion, graduates are expected to develop advanced competencies appropriate to their education, supervised scope of practice and applicable regulations, including the ability to:
Apply advanced scientific principles to laboratory investigations and correlate findings with clinical information.
Select, perform and evaluate appropriate diagnostic methods, including advanced and molecular techniques within their competence.
Assess specimen quality, analytical limitations, quality-control data and potential sources of error.
Apply quality assurance, laboratory accreditation principles, biosafety, infection prevention and biomedical waste procedures.
Use laboratory information systems and relevant digital health technologies responsibly.
Contribute to laboratory operations, resource planning, team supervision and professional communication.
Design or participate in ethical research, analyze data using appropriate biostatistical methods and critically appraise scientific literature.
Prepare and defend a dissertation and communicate findings clearly.
Laboratory Immersion
Practical Training and Research
Practical and clinical/laboratory exposure are integral to the MMLS programme. Students should develop advanced hands-on skills through supervised laboratory work, clinical postings where prescribed, case-based interpretation, logbooks and competency assessment. The programme includes a dissertation/research component in the final semester.
Chirayu should confirm the approved clinical posting calendar, participating departments and partner laboratories.
Define supervisor qualifications, student-to-supervisor arrangements, logbook entries and competency sign-off procedures.
Confirm dissertation topic approval, research ethics review where applicable, submission format, evaluation and viva requirements.
Align attendance, internal assessment, end-semester examinations and credit calculations with the current university-approved scheme.
Professional Opportunities
